Wide Spread Loss of Life and Property
In the aftermath of peaceful protest against CAA & NPR the Muslim concentrated colonies of North East Delhi witnessed heinous attacks starting from 23rd February 2020 resulting into heavy loss of lives and property. The full extent of the losses are yet to be determined. The surveys conducted so far by civilian and the Government organisations have revealed following statistics. |

Jamiat Relief Activities
Jamiat started the relief operations within 72 hours of occurrence of the riots. While the riots were going on in full swing and the fires were burning steps were taken to rescue families stranded in the midst of rioter mobs. On February 26, Maulana Mahmood Madani, The General Secretary of Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind along with a group of Jamiat volunteers visited the affected areas and hospitals to ensure immediate medical assistance to the injured people lying unattended in hospitals and other places. |

The first challenge was to provide safe accommodation and basic necessities for thousands of uprooted families. The immediate relief operation is briefly sketched hereunder: |

Relief Operation
1. Establishment of Relief camps at |
- Madarsa Baitul Uloom, Mustafabad b. Madina Masjid Mustafabad
- Madarsa Babul Uloom Jafrabad

2. Distribution of food kits: 5000 kits |
3. Riot affected persons rescued to safer places: 398 |
4. 10 severely injured persons provided with private hospital treatments. |
5. JUH units distributed INR 50,000 each to 22 family members of deceased. |
6. Various stranded families have been provided rented houses to live in. |
7. Capital Aid to Traders : There are many traders and shop keepers who lost their business establishment and shops. As a result they are left with nothing to start their business and support their families. Jamiat has for the time being provided to such 62 persons with capital help total INR 10 lakhs. |

Legal Help
- Cases filed in the Courts
- Habeas corpus Petitions for missing persons: Mohammad Huzefa and Mohammd Mursaleen were filed in the Delhi High Court. As a result Mohammad Huzefa was traced within 24 hours and Mohammad Mursaleen’s body was fished out and handed over by the police.
- Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind filed PIL in Delhi High Court for setting up of Special Investigation Team and preserving CCTV footage of the riot affected areas from February 23 to March 1 and not removing debris without collecting evidence from the sit It also sought FIRs against those involved in the violence and the guilty police officials.
- FIR against the culprits
- 50 FIR lodged in various Police stations against the identified and unidentified culprits.
- Legal help to illegally detained Muslim youths
- 50 innocent persons were released from police custody through legal intervention by Jamiat designated lawyers.
- A battery of advocates has been stationed in the riot hits areas to lodge more FIRs.
