Ram Bhakt Gopal Arrested for Spreading Hate
Ram Bhakt Gopal Arrested for Spreading Hate

Ram Bhakt Gopal Arrested for Spreading Hate On July 4, 2021 a mahapanchayat was organized in Pataudi, Gurugrame- Haryana. It was called to deal with issues such as Jove-Jihad and population control. Among the prominent names were Suraj Pal Amu, Karni Sena Chief, and Ram Bhakt Gopal, anti-CAA-NRC Jamia shooter. Explosive speeches were made from the platform. Suraj Pal Amu and Ram Bhakt Gopal targeted Muslim minority and urged Hindus to stand against them. Ram Bhakt Gopal came into limelight when he opened fire against the anti-CAA-NRC protestors at Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, in January 2020. He injured a young guy. He was subsequently booked under relevant sections of the IPC and sent to a correctional home and juvenile Justice board since he was minor at the time of incidence. He was given bail after few months on certain conditions. But he continued with his extremist views on Muslim as his social media accounts posts suggest. In his continuation, he was invited in the mahapanchayat where he was asked to express his opinion about love-jihad and population control. He openly asked for Muslim girls abduction and butchering of Muslim. In another video he himself shot in a car where he shows that he is firm on what he had said in the mahapanchayat. Even in the small interview given to local YouTube based channel he can be seen saying anti-Muslim remarks. He said that India in already in civil war and Hindus must wake up. This created a communal tension in the area. On 12th July Dinesh a resident of Jamalpur, Gurugram lodged an FIR against him on the ground that his hate speech could have created a situation of riots in the area. On the filed complaint against Ram Bhakt Gopal the Gurugram police booked him under IPC section 153-A (promoting enmity between different groups) and 295-A (Outraging religious feelings) and subsequently arrested from Jewer, Uttar Pradesh. He has been sent to 14 days judicial custody. The quick response from the police over a written complaint should be welcomed and praised. But it is interesting to see that Karni Sena chief who was also present in the event and gave similar provocative speech was not booked and nobody gave complaints against him. Both have done a same crime and should be prosecuted before the law. However, the issue of hate speech must be confronted through the law of the land. Perpetrators must be complaint against.
