Jamiat Rehabilitation work for Rohingya Muslims in Bangladesh
The Rohingya crisis in Myanmar in 2017 has shaken the conscience of the international community. Since violence broke out in the Rakhine province, more than 8 lakh Rohingyas have crossed the border and entered Bangladesh. The speed and scale of the influx has resulted in a critical humanitarian emergency. The people who have arrived in Bangladesh came with very few possessions. They have used most their savings on transportation. They are now reliant on humanitarian assistance for food, and other life-saving needs. Basic services that were available prior to the influx are under severe strain due to the massive increase in people in the area.
- Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind-leading Indian Muslim organization- while raising this issue at national and international level, felt need to provide urgent relief to those struggling in Bangladesh.
- On September 21, 2017, The Delhi division of Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind (JUH) under its central leader Maulana Mahmood Madani sb held a massive protest appealing to the Indian government to handle the crisis on humanitarian grounds. After the protest, they submitted a memorandum in support of their demands to Secretary General, UN, Home Ministry and Embassy of Myanmar.
- On Sept 26, 2017 a special delegation of Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind, led by Maulana Mahmood Madani sb General Secretary, Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind reached Cox's Bazar in Bangladesh to inspect the living condition of the Rohingya Muslims there. On this occasion, Maulana Madani distributed cash money and relief materials among victims. And decided to launch considerate relief and rehabilitation work with cooperation of local organization ‘Islahul Muslemin Prishad Bangladesh’ led by Maulana Fariduddin Masud.

Maualna Madani also deputed Maulana Hakeemuddin Qasmi, Secretary Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind and Maulana Qari Ahmad Abdullah who accompanied him in the delegation to stay there and operate relief work.
